History and Heritage Contest

RAAF 100th Anniversary & AAFC 80th Anniversary History And Heritage Contest​

To celebrate the RAAF’s 100th anniversary and the Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC) 80th anniversary, we are giving away the chance to win some exceptional prizes in our ‘History and Heritage Contest’.

Sponsored by RAAFA WA, AAFC Branch, 7 Wing AAFC and the Aviation Heritage Museum, participants are invited to submit an entry on any aspect of the RAAF and/ or AAFC history in any format they choose consisting of an essay, PowerPoint or audio/ visual video. 

There are two categories to choose from with 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes being awarded in each category. The competition closes 30 June 2021.

ELIGIBILITY:

Category 1:

  • Current No. 7 Wing AAFC Cadets (as of 15 October 2020)
  • Youth Flying Club Cadets

 

Category 2:

  • Current or former No.7 Wing ATC/AirTC/AAFC Staff, RAAFA WA Members, RAAF Veterans, Aviation Heritage Museum Volunteers, AAFC Branch Members
  • Cadets discharged after 15 October 2020
  • All former 7 Wings Cadets

 

Each category will have separate judging and prizes. Due to contest protocols, RAAFA staff, Board members, Councillors, and RAAFA-AAFC Branch Committee members are not eligible to enter.

ENTRY FORM

Each entry must be accompanied by a completed Entry Form. Multiple entries are allowed, but must have separate entry forms. Entries received after 30 June 2021 will only be accepted in extenuating circumstances, and if the administrators are advised.

There is no entry fee. Your entry will be acknowledged. However, you should keep a copy of your submission as it may not be returned.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Open to all RAAFA WA Members, RAAF Veterans, Aviation Heritage Museum Volunteers, current and former No.7 Wing AAFC Cadets and Staff, AAFC Branch members, and the Youth Flying Club. To win a fabulous prize, all you have to do is compile any aspect of RAAF and/or ATC/AAFC history using a 1000-2500 word essay, OR PowerPoint, Video, or Audio/Visual. Write of your own experiences, or something else of historical interest, but the subjects are wide open. Multiple entries are allowed.

1st prize | The choice is yours – Three hours flying instruction in a Cessna 152, OR scenic flying to same value, OR a holiday package or ‘Staycation’ to same value.

2nd prize | One hour scenic flight in a Tiger Moth with aerobatic option, OR a Cessna 172 one hour scenic flight, with seating for extra passengers.

3rd prize | One hour in a Boeing 777 Flight Simulator, Flight City, Jandakot, with family or friends in the cockpit, and in the First Class Lounge, with aperitifs. 

Two Commended prizes | Aviation Museum entrance, Lancaster, Dakota, Spitfire cockpit tours, Lancaster Virtual Reality, F111 and Macchi open cockpit. 
 

Early Bird Prizes | First 3 entries received by 31 March 2021 will win a $30 Dymocks book voucher OR $30 Aviation Museum Shop Voucher or Lancaster Virtual Reality Experience. Then on 31 March all entries received will go into a Draw for a scenic flight. Another Early Bird Prize will be awarded on 30 April and again on 31 May. You will still be eligible for the main prizes.

Prize Options | If a prize winner is unable to take up a flight prize, an alternative prize will be offered. The prize winner may choose to transfer the prize to a relative or friend.
